If someone has acted in a way that is completely unacceptable to you, you can accept the apology and still not give them full access until you know the situation has shifted into something that meets the needs of everyone involved.

If you allow the person to sit with the reality of their choices rather than sweeping it under the rug to continue the pattern and wait to see amends you would make good decisions for both you and them. You would allow them the natural consequence of their actions or you would simply see they are not ready to change and grow which would allow you to practice acceptance and allowing for where they are.

But it would take you out of helping them perpetuate a behaviour that serves no one at all. You would make your decisions based on the reality of the situation in the now moment rather than on the dream of some changed behaviour that may or may not occur in the future. It would support the growth of you and the other, or if nothing else, protect your peace until they choose a better path forward.

This is not about cutting people out to punish them. This is about adjusting your boundaries so your connection point with others is always supporting the empowerment of all. ~Archangel Gabriel through Shelley Young
